Dental Bonding
Salem, OR

A patient getting composite dental bonding at Fairmount Dental Center in Salem, ORWhen it comes to finding solutions to minor dental problems, composite dental bonding may be a viable option. It has a variety of uses and does not damage or impede on the nature feel or appearance of your teeth. Our dental office is staffed with knowledgeable, experienced, and caring people, and no one will treat you better and work harder to make sure you are happy with your health and confidence.

What is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding can be used in both restorative and cosmetic procedures and is a resin that is applied to your tooth or in select problem areas and cured with a specially designed light. It is a great option for dental clients whose teeth have become stained or those whose teeth have some damage that can be covered and sealed to be repaired. In fact, bonding procedures do not even require an anesthetic.

How does bonding work?

When you get this procedure done, the first thing we will do is prepare your tooth, removing a minimal portion of enamel. If the resin does not initially stick to your teeth, it will be no use to us. However, when your tooth is ready to go, the dentist will apply the resin and shape it so that it looks natural with the rest of the tooth and your surrounding teeth. For this resin to cure, or harden completely, we must use a light that will harden it very quickly, almost instantly. For it to fit perfectly and to prevent chipping or cracking, we will buff and polish the edges. This completes the natural look of these small enhancements and keeps them safe and secure.

Benefits of Bonding

Bonding is a relatively inexpensive alternative to some other treatment methods. It can be done with just one dentist appointment and can be done without an anesthetic. While it in and of itself can remedy some minor flaws in your teeth, it can also help to disguise other procedures that you have previously had done, such as fillings. This can brighten your smile and make everything come together in a seamless and natural fashion.

As far as a cosmetic enhancement, while it does not repair bigger problems, such as incorrect bite patterns or large chips in your teeth, it can easily disguise smaller problems so that imperfections can disappear and your confidence can return. It also requires very little upkeep compared to some other treatment options and can remain intact for a long time with regular brushing and flossing like usual.

This kind of procedure, although it seems easy enough, takes a lot of skill to pull off. Molding and shaping such a small and delicate piece of resin can lead to very negative consequences if done incorrectly. That’s why we advise you to come here to come and see us, where our years of experience, more than qualify us to take care of your teeth. If you think that this can benefit you, be sure to call us today at (503) 362-8364 and we can see what we can do for you!
